Kenya flight booked!

Well, I booked my flight to Kenya.

I depart May 4th (and 18.5 hours later I arrive in Kenya on May 5th).
Then I come back on July 28th.

Holy smokes!

Fun fact: this flight is the most expensive thing I have ever bought (other than tuition, I guess).

Yikes-a-likes!

Things to do:

  • book an appointment for travel immunizations (check. March 24th)
  • get more info on visas (you can get them when you land, or you can get them ahead of time. I'd like to plan ahead and have it before I leave, if possible)
  • get more info on how to get GPRS so I can get on the internet
  • look into buying somebody's old laptop off them, so I don't have to bring my pretty new one with me
  • start putting together a packing list
This is really going to happen!

I recommend the Asus EEE 1000h pc, massive battery life, and <$380.

Also, while you are the if you see Adam Zepp, say hey!

Yay for you!

I am so happy for you Lisa! I am so jealous of all of the wonderful people and moments you are going to meet and experience.

At the risk of sounding cheesy, I personally believe that the people who choose the unknown path in life are the ones who stand out and make a difference at the end of the day.

Power to you! More information of the trip coming soon?

Fantastic. Totally proud of this decision. Funny though, that the creator of 20SB is missing the meet up, haha.

Congrats on getting things together. If it doesn't make sense to buy an old laptop you might want to look at a netbook. I picked up an acer aspire one for $400 in September and it's been great. So nice and light to travel with yet also very realiable and lots of room to save my photos.

How exciting! If you need any tips about Kenya, please let me know (having lived there and all that). Re: internet... sporadic - depends on where you're going. However, there are loads of internet cafes which might be an easier way of updating?

Re: Visa - it's seriously easy to get it there. $50 and a form and you're there. Most people tend to get it at the airport.

I hope ul enjoy ur stay in kenya. You can either get gprs on ur cellphone which is pretty cheap or buy a modem (safaricom) to use on ur laptop.therez lotsa cyber cafe's around so it might be more convinient to use ur cellphone gprs n go to the cyber when u need to get alot of work done.
