Crocodile Tears

I finally got my brand new laptop. I'm so happy with it except I ordered a brown that looked like a chocolate brown, and instead it's brown-black like a good mascara. Oh well, I guess. Anyway, this conversation takes place a few days ago, with co-workers A and B (CWA, CWB). My laptop got mailed to the office, however we were spending out days at the test site.

Me: I really, really, really hope my laptop was delivered to the office today. If it's not waiting for me when we get back to the office tonight, I'm going to cry giant crocodile tears the whole way home.

CWA: What are crocodile tears?

Me: Like big giant tear drops. My mom used to always say, "oh, look at those crocodile tears"

CWB: I think crocodile tears are fake tears

Me: No way! Check Urban Dictionary!

we look it up

CWB: Crocodile tears. Fake tears.

pause

Me: My mom has never loved me.

Aparently my mom didn't love me either...I fully remember he almost always saying "look at those crocodile tears". Like you, I always thought that they were big giant tears! Hope you have a great weekend!

Wasn't there a children's book about a crocodile crying? I think he had the large tears, but I might be mistaken.

I used to fake cry when I was a kid all the time. I was Captain Crocodile Tears. Then one time I was crying over something trivial (a rip in my pants) but I was really upset. My mom accused me of croco-tears and I was all like

"perhaps I've fallen into a pattern of expressing my frustration with tears. Though I recognize that this instance may not traditionally call for tears it does not mean that my frustration is not real."

At the time I think I said something along the lines of "I hate you. I hate all of you." But my mom gets me.

You poor girl!! I hope that you are loving the move, I like hearing about what's going on. Also, I just read on the 20sb site that the new awards are happening this month. If you need help with any planning or anything, let me know. I really enjoyed it last time!
