Hypothetical temporary relocation
Hyyyypothetically,
Let's say you were interviewed for a super awesome job, but that job is located in a metropolis so conservative that the interviewer joked that "people there think George W is too liberal."
You'd only be there for four months (hypothetically). What do you think, would it be interesting in an experience-a-different-culture sort of way? Or would it be just too much to handle?

Only four months? If that's your only (hypothetical) qualm, I'd say take it! (hypothetically speaking)
Definitely take it. Co-op jobs are all about interesting experiences!
Plus, it would make great blogging material!
Totally agree with Michael. About to do a similar thing for a year. Strap on a pair! Go break some conservative balls ;)
Do it, do it, do it!
Any experience is a learning experience.
Living in that kind of environment can help strengthen the kind of liberal ideology you hold... and you can work on your arguments.
GO!
It would be EXTREMELY lame if you didn't take a fun and interesting job because you didn't want to be around conservative people for 4 months.
And besides, hello, you've been around our mother for 21 years, som nice bible thumpers will be a pleasant distraction.
My first thought was "Eeek! No!" But I have to go with what the someone else said: it would make great blogging material. Plus, the four months will go quickly and you'll be home soon.
Yes, for sure - I expect posts as good, if not better, than last year's roommate posts :)
by all means, take it.
exposure to extremes, especially opposite to your own POV, is crucial.
take your critical thinking skills with you and engage them, willfully dispensing your wisdom to the unwashed masses, lisa!
I don't see why not. Surely the issue of politics can't come up too much in four months?
Tell us where it is!
I say do it. It's only 4 months, and it would be interesting to be around people with widely different views than yours.
Nike
Why do you emphasize on "Hyyyypothetically" ??? Do you find your self in this situation? he he ;)
I would have a go for it.. As you said its just 4 months plus you have said it is a "super awesome job". 4 months is not a big deal for me...
But situations vary also people are different! Some may see it as a 4 months of ordeal; some may see it as a opportunity!
Do it! You will never regret it even if it is not what you expected.
ooh I would probably pull my hair out after 4 days :)
Do it, it's only four months. It would be interesting to see other viewpoints and to live a double life for a while, plus at the end of four months you get to go home!
DO IT. Hypothetically, of course. I survived a summer internship in the Hamptons, surrounded by rich older people and nothing affordable to do. It even cost $30 just to PARK AT THE BEACH. Ugh. But it was still totally worth it, and I did become friends with a couple other outsiders like me.
No matter what the overwhelming political sentiment of the region is, you'll find sympathetic souls.
I mean, I THINK there are some Republicans in NYC somewhere.
Go for it!!!
It sounds like a great job opportunity, plus a chance to have new experiences with new people. If you don't do that in your twenties, when will you?
Doooo eeeet! Sounds like it would make great blog fodder, hypothetically.
If it's only for four months, I'd do it.
DON'T DO IT!
Surround yourself by like-minded people for four months and lie in a ball in a warm blanket.
Read books about adventure.
DOooooooooooOOOOOOO It!
Numbers can't be one way or the other. Ignore politics!
Where??
Is this Salt Lake City? I'd say take it!
