Boots: hassle and a half

Ever since the first snow, I've just been one eager beaver to get out there buy some boots.

Well, I tried all those on. I prefer the look of boots over pants, but that style is for dreamers at this point because none of them could fit over my calves even when I pulled my pant legs up. Even if I would go up two sizes, none of them could zip up.

I mean gosh, I knew I had large calf muscles, but this is getting awkward.

"How did they fit, miss?" "CRAPPILY, OKAY. CRAPPILY THE ADVERB."

So I've had to take a giant sigh, and start trying on boots that end mid shin or lower. This is not any easier.

First I tried these little darlings:But there was no lining inside, and hello I live in a freezing season, currently.
So I try some with lining:I would describe them as beautiful, but there was no firmness in the area around the heel! I.e., you could tell they'd fall apart within 24 hours.

Then I saw these and fell in love like I've never fallen in love with a non sentient being.
And of course they have my size only the BRIGHT pink or white. And of course, then that very day Virginia has to go and get them. What a bum.

And so now I sit here, heart broken.

Perhaps during my lunch break I'll hit the streets again (luckily I work in the fashion district) and even if it means buying these pals (aptly named Frost Walkers), I will come back with boots! * * don't quote me on that. Let's face it I'm going to come back empty handed, as usual.

I like the boots from an old post way better. These ones look like junior kindergarten. Maybe that's why they don't fit around your calves, they're designed for children...

Boots: hassle and a calf

I loved those green ones posted by Virgina too. Why must boots never be in our size? I have taken to cramming my foot into shoes too small, or buying them too big and wearing multiple pairs of socks.

I wish I was joking.

Aw that's too bad they didn't have a decent color in your size for the ones Virginia got, I love them too.

Frost walkers, oh dear, they're horrid *shaking off the feeling.
I'm sure you'll find good uggs, don't surrender to the ugh's yet....

That's so funny, I got to the photo of the boots that fit and was like...I've seen those today!

I hope you find something!

Don't by the Uggs! They are hideous and trust me, I've considered bying them myself since I live in freezing weather, too, but I would not allow myself to wear those shapless sacks on my feet! Don't they remind you of 2003? Nowadays when I see them, it's almost always on a 14 year old girl with her sweatpants tucked into them, a ratty sweatshirt and her hair pulled into some sort of "messy bun" that looks like it hasn't been washed in sixteen days. But of course she has her Coach purse on her arm and that's the only decent looking thing about her outfit.

End rant. Thank you.

Funny post. I can't begin to count the number of days that I have vowed to buy boots, only to come home empty handed.

Good luck!

I remember the last time you posted about boots I went on a rant about Uggs and how you really shouldn't buy them. Oddly enough, while going through some old boxes this past weekend I came across my Uggs from five years ago...and was very tempted. But I said to myself 'No, Jill, you can't start wearing them like nothing's wrong! You already told Lisa not to get them!'

Also, I think those cute rubbery lined guys will look great, regardless of the color.

Oy. I have fatty calves as well, and cankles now that you mention it. My favorite boots have been my wellies. You can wear them over jeans as well! Here are a couple that I'm loving...

Bonus, 'cause they're on sale.
Here are a couple others that fit "muscular" calved woman like us as well...

My calves are "athletic" as well and I feel your pain. If you find a way to convince boot makers to accommodate muscular calves in women LET ME KNOW.

MY BOOTS! What do you mean they don't have your size?! Did you check piperlime.com? Or Zappos?? They are seriously the best boots ever...or um, I mean, NO. They suck. If you can't have them, they totally suck.

Good luck friend. Why do boots have to be so difficult?
