The "Good Guy" Test
Whenever a boyfriend is brought into my house, they are put to the test.
The boy can be a cousin's, a sister's, a friend's... it's all the same. And the test is Jack.
Things will be going well. Everybody is laughing and talking and suddenly somebody will look around and say "Hey... where's Jack? And where's the boyfriend?"
Like "Hey, where's Jack? And where's Pete?" and several hours later Jack and Pete come home with muddy shoes. Jack had just taken Pete by the hand, told him to get his shoes on, then lead him to the pond. They climbed over big logs and looked at tadpoles together for like three hours.
Or "Hey, where's Jack? And where's Jeremiah?" and Jack is making Jeremiah give him airplane rides in his room. Jeremiah lifted Jack above his head and... Jack drool a giant drop right into Jeremiah's mouth.
This weekend was "Hey, where are Jack and Rob? And where is Chris?" at my family gathering at my house. Chris is the newest cousin boyfriend and subject to much scrutiny, of course. When dinner was ready, up trudged Chris, Jack and Rob. All a bit sweaty. They had pulled Chris downstairs and made him play mini sticks hockey.
Of course, I guess Jack makes me do crazy things all the time and I'm just used to it.
Today I was playing horse (I of course being the horse) and I eventually tired. Jack said "PLEASE, Lisa, it's really, really, seriously important" and yesterday I had to sit through all twelve versus of "The 12 Days of Christmas" with all syllable initiating consonants changed to f.
On Fa First Fay of ChrisFas Fy Fue Fove Fave Fo Fe.
Nobody can say no to Jack.
I guess I'm saying... this Christmas if you're meeting younger siblings or cousins of your significant other... be nice.

And i'll try hard to be nice to my bro-in-law.
... because its a serious test.
This makes me miss having wee ones around at Christmas time.
So you're saying I should refrain from calling AS's nephew a a p*ssy??? Hmm...
(Seriously, he is a lame-ass six year old, that's all I'm saying.)
I feel so honoured to have had a boyfriend put to the farlow family test!

I love little Jack! Can he come to my house to play this year? All of my cousins and siblings are at least 17 years old and no longer cute!
Merry Christmas!
i love jack sooooo much.
I have 4 year old boy twin cousins who are no longer afraid of me. That's all I have to say. Merry Christmas.
This is SO true. I judge everyone by how they interact with my nieces.

I think it's cute when younger siblings "test out" a new guy to make sure they approve. :)
