19 and 11 months
My 20th birthday is less than a month away. This is a really big deal because once you leave the teens there are several things you can't do:
-Have crushes on people that are still in high school (bummer!)
-Rhyme your age with screen, queen, bean, convene, halloween, clean, gene, lean, spleen, sheen, machine, caffeine, benzene, obscene, green, vaccine, trampoline, tangerine, submarine, velveteen (rabbit), or, worst of all, aquamarine
-Giggle when your best friend tells you that your crush told her over instant messenger that he likes you
-Be very active on myspace
There are several things you can do when you turn twenty:
-Start making references to your reckless youth ("yeah, I guess it was a reckless decision. But whatev, right? I was like, frickin' 19")
-Have crushes on people in the 25+ age group
-Rhyme your age with plenty, grunty, and cognoscenti (I guess thats a fair trade. No wait, we got benzene before? Rats, what a degradation it will be in the rhyming department to be 20)
-go to Tim Hortons with your youngest brother without people giving you evil "what a sinning slut" eyes because they think hes your son (well... maybe that will stop happening if I ever start to look older)
-start expecting wedding invitations from friends
In the traditional "big two-oh" way, I'm asking for gifts commonly associated with the transition to adulthood:
-monetary contributions to me buying a really good bike
-lululemon apparel (my next purchase is the tribabe shirt, then the tribabe shorts)
-surprises (like how Lin sent Laur and I some grocerygateway yesterday for exam studying ease! That is a good surprise)
-homemade tasty treats
-if you are my youngest 2 brothers: crafts made with love and perhaps a picture of us together
-a digital camera that also does movies so I can video blog sometimes
